Harman was the author and illustrator of "Red Ryder Comics." A
good friend of Heinz
and Dorothy Rubel, Fred sent four-year-old Michael
Rubel a BB gun each Christmas for about six years during the 1940s. "His
pet deer attacked me in their living room in 1947 which gave me a scar
on my forehead which at age sixty is still visible. Fred's ranch was
in Colorado which we visited on our way to my Grandfather Harry Deuel's
ranch called Cuerna Verde." -M.C.R.
